Enchanting Love

In this styled shoot, I created the Enchanting Love concept around an escort card display I was excited to build. I wanted the shoot to bring vibrance and passion with a warm colour palette, and to showcase the creative sides to some fantastic vendors.

Designing the Escort Card Display

If you’ve never heard of an escort card display, it’s a way to direct your guests to their table. The guest names are placed on a large display, and the guests have to take something that tells them what table they are seated on. Sometimes the item is a card, and sometimes it’s a little gift or handwritten letter. The possibilities are endless, and it’s a great opportunity to add more meaning and personalisation to your wedding day.

I have wanted to create an escort card display for such a long time! It’s not something you see a lot at weddings here in Australia, so I wanted to show what was possible and include it in this styled shoot.

In the escort card display, the escort card sits inside the envelopes. Each envelope has the guest’s name, and they are listed on the display in alphabetical order. I chose the envelope colours to suit the colour palette of the styling. They sat in colour blocks on a backdrop provided by Always Eventive.

The Dream Team of Wedding Suppliers

Once I developed the vibe of the styled shoot, and the idea of the escort card display was coming together, it was time to make some calls.

I reached out to a range of local wedding suppliers. Some of them I’d worked with before, and some were on my bucket list! Each were known for their vibrant creativity, and it meant that they were all excited to create something a little out of the box for the shoot. The colours of the wedding attire were intriguing, the florals were so creative, and our celebrant had so much personality!

On the Day

We held the shoot at the modern Yarra Valley venue Balgownie Estate. With so many spaces there, from accommodation to reception rooms and even a giant chess board, we squeezed in a huge number of scenes across the day.

Reception Styling

After chatting to the team at Balgownie Estate and our stylist for the day Caitlin from Paradise Hunter, we decided to style two different tables to showcase two slightly different looks.

I created table names rather than table numbers. This is such a beautiful way to add a personal touch to your wedding. You might like to use the names of places you’ve been together, or things that are meaningful to you.

The place cards were a layered stack with the name and couple monogram on top, and the double-sided menu underneath, all printed on luxurious textured paper.

Wedding Invitations

To match the escort card display and the stacked place card and menu, I created a modern wedding invitation suite with three layers. With bold typography and intriguing lines, the suite has an impact on guests as they open the envelope.

When Day Turns to Night

The bar space at Balgownie Estate lends itself to an intimate moment, and we took full advantage of that. Notice the bar menu, the bold florals, and the gorgeous lighting, all creating the perfect backdrop for the couple to enjoy their evening together.

The Champagne Tower

We put a bit of a twist on the popular champagne tower, adding colours to the layers for a touch of intrigue.

Enchanting Love is a bold display of colour, embracing passion and joy, just like a wedding should be.
